A bit about Mr. G . . .
I was born a non-Mainer in Derby, Connecticut in 1974. My family moved to Maine when I was four years old. For MANY reasons I moved around a lot growing up. I went to two kindergartens, two first grades, several second grades, a new school for third and fourth grade. Then I moved to Poland for fifth through half of seventh grade. I was a student right here at Poland Community School! I would move three more times before I graduated high school from Camden-Rockport High School in 1992. PHEW! But moving to Poland when I was ten was really important to me. I found the place I wanted to work when I was older. So, moving wasn't all bad! I went to college in Maine, at Bates College, where I got a degree in English in 1996. I later went back to school at the University of Maine at Orono, where I got my Masters degree in teaching in 1999. I came back to Poland to teach, because of all of the schools I attended (and there were A LOT!) – Poland is where I felt like I belonged most.
Here are some of the jobs I've had throughout my life: blueberry raker, ice cream scooper, landscaper, organic gardener, lobster trap maker, librarian, cross-country running and track coach. I love to draw and someday hope to write and illustrate children's books!
I love spending time with my family. My wife, Ms. Eldridge, also teaches at Poland Community School. I also have three amazing children: Emma, Willa, and Brenna - who all come to school in Poland!
